Tim Spriggs gave a strong performance in his first NO GI Jiu-Jitsu Competition as a Black Belt. Coach Tim ended up with Bronze in the Black Belt Heavyweight division and reached the Quarterfinals of the Black Belt Open. Along the way, he defeated the 2013 Black Belt Open Champion, the very tough Murilo Santana, as well Roberto “Tussa” Alencar. His losses were to Lucas Leite and Yuri Simoes. All four of his “name” opponents are previous Black Belt World Medalists. Tim proved he belongs out there with the best in the world.

Alfonso Washington AKA DenSAL flew out to California on a whim after training 90% Muay Thai for the past 4 months. Sal ended up with two medals: Bronze in the Ultra Heavyweight division as well as Bronze in the Purple Belt Open.

Devon Delbrugge had a disappointing weekend. After taking Gold (weight class) and Silver (Open) at last weekend’s No Gi Pan, Delbrugge was eliminated via Disqualification in his first match. While winning on points, Devon was rolling to defend his back and ended up rolling out of bounds. Rather than award his opponent the standard 2 points, the referee DQ’d Devon for fleeing the mat to avoid a submission.
